Sour Milk Devil's Food Cake

Ingredients

  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 1/3 cup cocoa
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup sour milk
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 1/2 cups flour

Instructions

Cream sugar and shortening; add eggs and beat thoroughly. Add flavoring. Sift all dry ingredients; add sour milk and flour mixture to first mixture gradually.
Bake in loaf pan (8x8) for 40 minutes at 350(F).
