Peanut Brittle

Instructions

1. Have all ingredients premeasured and assembled. Grease a large cookie sheet and set aside.

2. In a (2-quart) saucepan, over medium heat, bring sugar, Karo syrup, salt and water to a boil. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Stir in peanuts.

3. Set candy thermometer in place and continue cooking. Stir frequently until temperature reaches 300 degrees on candy thermometer.

4. Remove from heat. Immediately stir in butter and baking soda. Pour immediately onto prepared cookie sheet. With 2 forks, lift and pull candy into a rectangle about 14x12 inches. Cool. Break into pieces.

Makes 1 pound.
