Honey Biscuits
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/3 cup honey
- 2./3 cup milk
- 2 cups flour
- 4 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
Instructions
Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening, mix well and then add honey and milk. Blend until soft, slightly sticky dough is formed.
Sprinkle flour on clean, dry surface and knead dough 4 or 5 times. Flatten dough so that it is just under an inch thick. Using a round cookie cutter (or a floured glass!), cut into circles.
Place on cookie sheet and bake at 425F until golden brown (about 10-12 mins). Makes about 12-18 biscuits.
Suggested toppings: jam, chocolate spread, butter or cheese/cream cheese. Great to have alongside chilli, soups and stews!
