Homemade Chili
Ingredients
- 1/2 lb lean ground pork sausage
- 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 2 stalks celery, chopped
- 2-3 pods garlic, pressed or minced
- 2 (8-oz.) cans tomato sauce
- 2 tbls. chili powder
- 2 tsps. cumin
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. black pepper
- 3 or 4 splashes of Tabasco sauce
- Sour cream
- Shredded Cheddar cheese
Instructions
1. Brown meats in skillet, crumbling as they cook.
2. Add onion, bell pepper, celery and garlic, and cook until tender.
3. Add tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin and seasonings.
4. Bring to a boil, then lower heat and simmer for about an hour, stirring occasionally.
5. Garnish with a dollop of sour cream and a sprinkle of shredded Cheddar cheese when served.
Serves 6 to 8.
