Easy French Onion Soup

Gently cook the onion slices in the butter in a saucepan. When the onions are clear, add the flour and mix it with the onions and butter to form a roux. Let cook for about 1 minute, then add the bouillon cubes, hot water and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 15 minutes.
Melt some gruyre cheese onto sliced French bread in the broiler and place in the bottom of bowls. Spoon soup over the toast and bon appetit!
Serves two.
Note: Don't add salt to recipes in which you've used bouillon without tasting first.
