Applesauce Bread (great for gifts!)
Ingredients
- 2 c. all purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp. allspice
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. vegetable oil
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/4 c. sweetened applesauce
- 3 tbsp. milk
- 1/2 c. coarsely chopped pecans
- TOPPING:
- 1/4 c. chopped pecans
- 1/4 c. packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Instructions
Sift flour with baking soda, baking powder, salt and spices. Combine sugar, oil, applesauce, eggs and milk. Add sifted dry ingredients and nuts. Pour batter into greased 9"x5"x3" loaf pan. Mix topping ingredients thoroughly and sprinkle over batter. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 to 1 1/4 hours. (Stove temperatures differ - you may need 350 degrees.) Crunchy outside, moist inside, makes a perfect gift bread.
