Apple Sauce and Cinnamon Ornaments (non-edible)
Ingredients
Instructions
Take a jar or can of applesauce. Dump 2 cups of cinnamon in with the applesauce in a bowl. Start mixing it together. Watch the cinnamon doesn't over power your senses while mixing. The mixture of applesauce/cinnamon should resemble playdough when mixed together. Add more cinnamon if needed to make it resemble playdough. Depending on how much moisture is in the applesauce can contribute to how much more cinnamon may be needed. Work into a ball.Plus moisture in the air can contribute problems to making these ornaments. Then take 2 papertowels and roll dough out on one papertowel with other one on top of dough. Make thick enough to hold stable but thin enough to not crumble or break when drying. Pierce with toothpick top of each ornament. Use cookie cutters in whatever desirable shape you prefer to cut out ornaments. Rework remaining dough to make more ornaments. Lay each cut out ornament on a clean papertowel on top of cookie tray. Place in area that they take several days to dry. The house will smell wonderful as they dry. Flip over each day to ensure equal drying on both sides. When ornament is totally hard. Decorate with ribbon, or paint with acrylics or use just as they are. Great to make as package ornament on top of gifts. Or an ornament to hang on tree or somewhere. Great for a holiday table to brighten the table space. Great project for children to help make and create..just remember hands can get dirty. But washable.
These ornaments are not to be eaten. Only to enjoy to look at.
When you pack them away after the Holidays, Put them into a Ziploc baggie and store so that they don't get damaged. If the smell fains, then just put a few drops of cinnamon oil on.
